I've been impressed with the original star wars creations that Samuel has been making. He's becoming a lego master like his brother.

First timing skiing

Counting

Samuel counts this way: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,16,19,11...

Joshua asked him what he was going to get him for Christmas. Samuel replied, "I'll think about that while I'm sleeping."

I bet I'd be great at that

Annette points out a skateboarder to Samuel, "Do you think you would like to try that someday?"

Sam says without hesitation: "I bet I'd be great at that!"

Samuel is definitely our daredevil. After swimming around with a floatation vest for a couple weeks, yesterday he just decided he didn't need it anymore, took it off, and started swimming around on his own. 

He was so excited to swim back and forth between us and the wall.   Each time he reached the wall, he would flash us a big grin and give us two thumbs up.

Annette and I were flabbergasted.

Way to go Sam.

Reading tear

It was unusually quiet in Samuel's room, and when I went in to investigate, I saw that he had been methodically taking every book off his book shelf and reading them one by one.

Best brother ever

At bedtime yesterday, Joshua was explaining to Samuel that if he could stay in his bed all night, Samuel would earn a sticker too and then both of them could go and get their prize this weekend. Samuel replied, "You're the best brother ever! "

The boys and I took the Amtrak to NYC today to meet up with Annette.

Our first destination was the headquarters of FAO Schwarzenegger of course, and the boys went right to work picking out a toy. The problem with Samuel picking is that he likes everything, so as soon as he's decided what he wants to get, he'll see something else and want it instead. He also has no problem picking things he already has: "But I want it again!"

Singing in the rain

Back in the hotel room, the boys started right away playing with their new toys, and as usual, Samuel wanted to play with Joshua's toys too.

Joshua said, "I don't want to play with you."

Samuel replies, "You have to! That's what friends are for."

Preschool activities

Samuel's favorite activities at preschool are playing with the cars, trucks, and blocks; and listening to books being read by CD or in person; and playing in the sandbox.

Toilet training

Yippee! I Samuel has been dry at preschool the last two days!

Biking to preschool

Ordinarily, Samuel hitches a car ride to school along with his big brother, or walks.. But today, he rode the bike to school for the first time. And not his tricycle, but Joshua's BIG BIKE!

Baby church

Samuel has been able to stay in baby church the past few weeks for the first time in his life.  We have been waiting what seems like forever for Samuel to get to this point. We can finally attend church service again.

Money

When Samuel saw a dime on the floor today, he bent down to pick it up, saying, "Money, woo hoo!"

Privacy

Whenever Samuel wants to go number two, he'll walk into his bedroom, close the door behind him, and do his business in private, into his diaper. He won't allow anyone in while he is doing his business. When he's done, he opens the door and comes out very matter of a fact. Sometimes he announces, "Poop! "

Come back

While video chatting with Annette this morning, Samuel reached out his arms to the screen and said, "Momma, hold you. Come back. "

Hello honey

Samuel says hi to the guinea pig ("Honey") at Joshua's school. He calls him, "Mouse!"

Asleep

On the way to the park, the boys fall asleep.

Samuel likes cats

At the Easter party today, Samuel kept wanting to follow around and pet this nice little cat.
